Case IH has introduced the Farmall 35A and Farmall 40A compact tractors, targeting small-scale farming, livestock operations and property maintenance with a focus on versatility, operator comfort and efficient implement handling.
Positioning within the Farmall compact range
The Farmall 35A and 40A extend the Farmall compact tractor family, addressing applications where maneuverability, ease of use and multi-implement capability are critical. These tractors are positioned for tasks such as loader work, mowing, material handling and light ground engagement, where compact dimensions must be balanced with sufficient hydraulic and lifting performance.
Both models are designed to support long operating days, with features intended to reduce operator fatigue while maintaining consistent productivity across varied tasks.
Operator station and ergonomics
Operator comfort and accessibility are central to the design. The tractors feature a wide platform and step-through layout that simplifies entry and exit, which is particularly relevant for frequent on-and-off tasks. A cushioned seat and ergonomically arranged controls support extended operation, while unobstructed sightlines improve situational awareness during loader and implement work.
A loader joystick is positioned for intuitive control, enabling precise operation during repetitive material handling tasks. These design choices contribute to improved safety and reduced physical strain.
Powertrain and transmission options
The Farmall 35A and 40A are available with two transmission configurations to suit different operating preferences and task profiles. Operators can select a three-range hydrostatic transmission for smooth, variable-speed control or a 12x12 gear transmission for applications requiring direct mechanical engagement.
Both models are equipped with a common-rail diesel injection system, supporting efficient fuel delivery and consistent engine performance. A standard 12.6-gallon fuel tank extends operating intervals by reducing the frequency of refueling.

Hydraulic capability and implement support
Hydraulic performance is a key factor in compact tractor productivity. The new Farmall models offer higher three-point hitch lift capacity, enabling the use of a broader range of rear-mounted implements. Optional stackable hydraulic remotes and an optional live third-function loader control support simultaneous operation of multiple hydraulic functions.
The tractors are available with a factory-matched loader and an improved backhoe. A quick-mount system simplifies attachment changes and improves ground clearance, reducing setup time and increasing operational flexibility.
Control layout and maneuverability
A dual pedal design enables rapid forward-to-reverse transitions, which is particularly beneficial for loader work and confined operating areas. This configuration supports smoother directional changes and reduces operator workload during repetitive cycles.
Combined with the compact chassis, these control features enhance maneuverability in barns, yards and other restricted spaces.
Connectivity and fleet visibility
The Farmall 35A and 40A are prepared for installation of an entry-level telematics modem. This enables integration with Case IH FieldOps™, providing up to five years of connectivity. Through the platform, operators and owners can monitor machine status in real time and view GPS location data, supporting basic fleet oversight and asset tracking.
