Agricultural Machinery Drivetrain Efficiency at EIMA 2026

EIMA International 2026 takes place from 10 to 14 November at BolognaFiere in Bologna, Italy, where Fendt exhibits agricultural machinery ranging from specialty tractors and combines to high-horsepower tracked models for arable farming and livestock operations.

Core Technology and System Architecture
The technical presentation highlights the European premiere of the Fendt 1167 Vario MT Gen2 tracked tractor. Powered by a 16.2-liter MAN six-cylinder engine delivering 680 hp and 3,100 Nm of torque, the machine integrates a controlled pivoting drawbar and rear linkage. The system links the implement pivot angle directly to the steering angle, improving implement guidance during turns while decreasing required tractive effort.

The operator station incorporates the FendtONE control architecture, which centers on a 12-inch armrest terminal, a 3L joystick, assignable controls, and programmable lighting configurations delivering up to 84,300 lumens. Cab air quality is sustained through a continuous passive filtration system using a vacuum and cyclone separator that removes dust without manual service intervals.

Deployment or Implementation
The machinery is presented in Hall 14, Stand B/7, and an adjacent 800-square-meter outdoor demonstration area between Halls 14 and 16 at BolognaFiere. Field implementations target heavy draft tillage, planting, and high-load transport cycles. Production units of the Fendt 1100 Vario MT Gen2 range, manufactured with cabs from the Asbach-Bäumenheim facility, integrate with standard implement interfaces and telemetry infrastructure. Alongside the tracked series, Fendt displays the Fendt 314 Vario Gen 5 and a 300-unit production run of the Fendt 900 Vario series.

Industry Applications
Engineered for large-scale crop production, high-horsepower tractors resolve traction losses and fuel inefficiencies inherent to continuous high-draft field work. The tracked drivetrain architecture maximizes ground contact area, reducing soil compaction during primary tillage and seeding while maintaining directional stability under high draft loads.

Operational Impact and Performance Metrics
Drivetrain optimization across wheeled ranges utilizes the VarioDrive transmission coupled with the Fendt iD low-engine-speed concept, delivering maximum torque at low engine revolutions. Independent testing through the DLG PowerMix standard provides verified operational parameters for specific fuel consumption across defined duty cycles.

In DLG PowerMix evaluations, the Fendt 724 Vario Gen7.1 achieved 242 g/kWh of diesel and 24.2 g/kWh of AdBlue, representing a nine percent consumption reduction compared to its predecessor generation. Transport measurements recorded 321 g/kWh at 40 km/h, 326 g/kWh at 50 km/h, and 328 g/kWh at 60 km/h.

In the higher power class, the Fendt 832 Vario recorded 235 g/kWh of diesel and 29 g/kWh of AdBlue during the DLG PowerMix cycle, alongside a transport figure of 331 g/kWh of diesel and 36 g/kWh of AdBlue at 60 km/h. The related Fendt 826 Vario delivered 239 g/kWh of diesel with 29 g/kWh of AdBlue. Technical trade publication profi documented that a specific consumption of 235 g/kWh represents a benchmark within tractors tested up to 350 hp.
