New Holland Expands Compact Tractor Line with WORKMASTER 35C & 40C

Compact tractors are widely used across small-scale agriculture, grounds maintenance, landscaping, municipal services and property management, where versatility, ease of use and reliable hydraulic performance are critical. New Holland has expanded its compact tractor range with two new models designed to address these requirements: the WORKMASTER 35C and 40C.

The new tractors were developed to improve operator comfort, maneuverability and attachment compatibility while maintaining straightforward mechanical layouts and predictable operating behavior. Both models are positioned as practical utility machines for operators who require frequent attachment changes, tight-space maneuvering and consistent hydraulic response.

Operator platform designed for extended working cycles
The operator station was redesigned using ergonomic modeling and regional operator data to reduce fatigue during extended use. Entry and exit are supported by wide steps, large grab handles on both fenders and a semi-flat deck with a low transmission tunnel. A standard rubber floor mat reduces vibration transmission to the operator.

The adjustable vinyl seat, wide steering wheel and clearly arranged controls support intuitive operation. Instrument visibility and color-coded control knobs allow quick identification of functions during repetitive tasks such as loader work or implement operation.

Integrated attachment system for loader and backhoe applications
To support material handling and earthmoving tasks, the tractors are compatible with the newly developed 250LC front loader and 270BC backhoe. The front loader uses a joystick-controlled hydraulic system that allows simultaneous lift and curl, supporting precise bucket control. A skid-steer quick-attach interface enables compatibility with common attachments, including grapples when equipped with the optional live third-function hydraulic kit.

The 270BC backhoe provides digging depths of up to 2,210 mm using a standard 16-inch bucket. A redesigned mounting system improves under-tractor clearance and allows attachment or removal without removing the three-point hitch arms, reducing changeover time between excavation and rear-mounted implements.

Powertrain and transmission options for varied operating profiles
Both models are powered by a 1.9-liter, three-cylinder diesel engine delivering consistent torque for loader work, ground-engaging tasks and transport operations. A single-piece metal hood provides direct access to service points, and a 48-liter fuel tank supports long operating intervals.

Customers can select either a dual-pedal, three-range hydrostatic transmission for frequent directional changes, or a 12x12 mechanical transmission with synchronized shuttle for applications requiring controlled traction and sustained pulling force.

Hydraulics, maneuverability and rear implement handling
A dual-pump hydraulic system separates steering and implement flow, maintaining responsive steering even under full loader load. The three-point hitch provides a lift capacity of 937.5 kg, representing a measurable increase over previous compact models. Telescopic stabilizers simplify rear implement alignment and attachment.

Up to three optional rear hydraulic remotes can be specified for equipment such as log splitters or hydraulic implements. Tire options include R1 agricultural, R3 turf, R3+ hybrid and R4 industrial configurations, allowing adaptation to soil, grass, paved surfaces or mixed environments.

Telematics readiness and warranty coverage
The tractors are factory-prepared for telematics integration, enabling fleet operators such as municipalities or rental providers to monitor machine status, location and usage data through New Holland’s FieldOps platform when equipped with a dealer-installed modem.

Warranty coverage includes 24 months or 750 operating hours of full machine coverage, plus extended powertrain protection up to 72 months or 1,500 hours.

Trade show presentations
The WORKMASTER 35C will be presented at the World Ag Expo 2026, held February 10–12 in Tulare, California (corner of South Street and N Street).

The WORKMASTER 40C will be showcased at the National Farm Machinery Show 2026, held February 11–14 in Louisville, Kentucky (South Wing A, booth 6049).
