Location, Location, Location
It is a well-known saying that when it comes to buying a home, it’s all about location, location, location. This can be equally applied to making strategic commercial decisions and in particular when choosing at which trade exhibitions to spend your hard-earned marketing budget. Whilst there are many reasons for producers and suppliers to take a booth at a trade event, supporting those fairs which attract the right target audience i.e. your potential future customers, must surely rank as the most important. When asked, it is clear this is a key factor for companies exhibiting at Landscape Istanbul Fair 2026 (LIF 2026) which takes place in Turkiye’s largest metropolis from 7-10 October 2026.
Arguably the importance of selecting an event which delivers the right geographical coverage is most apparent when speaking to international exhibitors who are seeking new sales opportunities outside of their domestic market. One such exhibitor at LIF 2026 is the Polish producer CLEMATIS The Source of Good Climbers, with their Senior Sales Strategy and Marketing Specialist, Mina Tsonkova, highlighting their motivation for attending. “As a leading producer of good quality plants from Poland, being present at the most important International exhibitions is a crucial part of our business strategy.” Ms Tsonkova went onto say, “We recognize Landscape Istanbul Fair’s major importance in Eurasia and we believe our presence there will give us a clearer view on the market, but also connect us with other significant global horticultural producers. We are optimistic about future opportunities this fair will open up for us.”
Sharing this positive outlook for their participation in this year’s fair and fellow first-time exhibitor, are the Spanish company IF Plants, who provide extensive management services to help buyers identify and purchase plants from Spain. Marketing Manager Emilie Rollet said, “We chose to participate in LIF2026 because we see strong potential for Spanish ornamental plants in Türkiye and have also identified growing demand among landscape professionals, importers and contractors across the Middle East and the Balkans.” Ms Rollet added, “As a rapidly evolving international trade fair in a strategic location connecting these markets, Landscape Istanbul Fair provides the ideal platform to build long-term partnerships and support our expansion in the region.”
These sentiments are shared by exhibitors coming from much further afield including another first-time participant, the Taiwan Orchid Growers Association (TOGA). A representative from TOGA said, “We chose to participate in Landscape Istanbul Fair 2026 because of its comprehensive coverage of landscaping, horticulture, plant production and related technologies. Under our theme, ‘Blooming Taiwan’ we aim to introduce the quality and diversity of Taiwanese orchids whilst gaining a better understanding of the Turkish and regional markets."
This geographical importance is not lost on local Turkish producers with companies such as Boğaziçi Plant Production & Landscape, who view LIF as more than just a trade fair, but also as a key meeting point that shapes the future of this industry. As Mahmut AKBACAKOĞLU from Boğaziçi Bitkisel Üretim commented, “Alongside the high-quality outdoor ornamental plants we produce, we will be showcasing special plant collections sourced from Turkey’s leading growers and our European business partners. We are participating in this fair with the aim of developing new partnerships, expanding our export network and further enhancing the international standing of the Turkish ornamental plant sector.”
Ahmet DÜNDAR, Chairman of the Board of Directors, SÜSBİR (Turkish Ornamental Plants Growers Association), agrees, “Landscape Istanbul Fair is not just a trade fair, it is a meeting point where we come together every year to listen to one another, develop new ideas and discuss the future of the sector together.” Given SÜSBİR’s unique role in representing the Turkish ornamental plants industry, DÜNDAR added, “The Fair is an important showcase through which our sector presents itself to the world. I believe that every new connection made here, every collaboration undertaken and every experience shared contributes to a positive future.”
When Landscape Istanbul Fair 2026 opens its doors to the landscaping and horticultural community from 7-10 October 2026, it is anticipated that more than 5,000 industry professionals coming from over 50 countries, will take this opportunity to view the latest and most innovative products and services on offer from more than 110 exhibitors.
Co-located with Landscape Istanbul Fair will be the international World Urban Parks (WUP) Symposium which this year is taking as its theme, ‘The Living Legacy Rooting the Future of Parks in the Wisdom of the Past.’ WUP are confident that this Symposium taking place from 7-9 October, will prove to be the most compelling to date as it brings together park professionals, urban planners, policymakers, researchers and advocates from across the globe for a rich programme of keynote addresses, panel discussions, workshops and case studies spanning six thematic axes: leadership and knowledge transfer, equity and democratic space, green infrastructure and climate, advocacy and policy, culture and place, and youth innovation.
Among the confirmed keynote speakers are Mark Bowater, current Chair of World Urban Parks and Spaces and Places Consultant with Sport New Zealand, and Michael Boland, Deputy Chair of World Urban Parks, Parkmaker, Strategic Adviser, and former Chief Park Officer at the Presidio Trust in the United States two of the most respected voices shaping the future of urban parks on the world stage. Further keynote speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.
Repeating the successful format of previous editions, the programme will feature both local and international panel discussions, bringing together perspectives from Istanbul and Türkiye alongside voices from across WUP’s five global regions. The Symposium is free to attend representing an open invitation to the entire parks and open space community to be part of a conversation that matters deeply for the future of our cities.
The Symposium will also include the prestigious WUP Annual Awards ceremony, recognising outstanding individuals, organisations and projects transforming urban green spaces around the world.
